Journey: Arnel Pineda

Today was Super Bowl XLIII. Every year gets more intense then it was the year before. The Cardinals and the Steelers were the competitors on the feild this time. I haven't really been keeping up with sports lately, so I didn't know what to expect. What I was really looking forward towas the pregame show, the commercials, and halftime. During halftime there was 3D parts which was pretty cool, Commercials are always funny, but the pregame was the best part. This is where my Title comes into the picture. Arnel Pineda performed during the pregame. Arenel Pineda is currently the lead singer for the group named Journey. Ok, what is so great about him? He is just a regular guy that is the lead singer right? Actually this guy was apart of a band in the Philippines, and all beacuse of youtube and a little hard work. A no named guy turned into a Lead singer of Americas numero uno band.

Schon sent an e-mail to Pineda inviting the latter to audition for Journey. Pineda initially dismissed the e-mail as a hoax, but after being persuaded by Gomez, he finally replied to Schon's e-mail. Ten minutes later, Pineda received a phone call from Schon.[7] On August 12,[8] Pineda, along with his manager Bert de Leon, flew to Marin County, just north of San Francisco, for a two-day audition.[9][10] The star-struck Pineda was welcomed warmly but he described the audition as "nerve-wracking, tense".[11] On December 5, 2007, Pineda was announced as the lead singer of Journey. He is more then a lucky guy, that just got his chance. To me, he is an inspiration to all filipinos in the whole world. This gives many of us the drive to be what he has done. An Icon if you would say. The Filipino community is finally coming up from the bottom and showing what we (as a country) are made of. This goes along with Cherish Pempengco, and Manny Pac Man. Heroes of our country. No names right? Fuck yea!
